Six-Year-Old Girl Dies in Tragic Road Accident in Rochdale

Rochdale, Greater Manchester – April 28, 2025 – A six-year-old girl has tragically lost her life after being struck by a car in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, police have confirmed.

The incident occurred on Monday evening, at around 5:35 PM, when a Range Rover, traveling west on Ashfield Road, collided with the child who was on the road at the time. An air ambulance landed nearby afterwards, a desperate attempt to save her; however, despite the best efforts of emergency services, she died a short time later.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) reported that the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene following the collision. No arrests have been made at this stage, as the investigation continues.


The case is being handled by GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU). Detective Constable Thomas Johnson, from the unit, expressed his sympathies to the girl's family.

Authorities are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. This heartbreaking event has once again highlighted the importance of road safety, particularly in residential areas. Attention must be directed towards road safety and responsible driving. The investigation is ongoing.
