Car Crashes into Rochdale Infirmary Entrance; No Injuries Reported

Rochdale, Greater Manchester – A vehicle collided with the main entrance of Rochdale Infirmary on Thursday morning, causing structural damage to the building’s canopy but resulting in no injuries.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, 5th February. Emergency services were alerted after a car struck the main canopy covering the front entrance of the hospital.

Photos from the scene show significant damage to the support pillars of the canopy following the impact. The vehicle involved was later spotted resting on the pavement with a smashed front bumper and extensive front-end damage.

In response to the collision, the hospital’s main entrance was temporarily closed to ensure the safety of patients and staff while assessments were carried out.

A spokesperson for the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust, which operates the site, confirmed that the entrance was reopened shortly after the incident.

While the structural integrity of the canopy was compromised, officials confirmed that no pedestrians or hospital staff were injured during the collision.

The motivation behind the incident remains unclear. It is not yet known why the driver crashed into the entrance or how the vehicle came to be parked on the pavement. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
