Rochdale Police Seize Uninsured Vehicle and Summon Driver to Court Following Norreys Street Stop
Rochdale, Greater Manchester – Greater Manchester Police have removed another illegal vehicle from the streets following a proactive traffic stop in Rochdale on Monday.
On the afternoon of Monday, August 10th, 2026, officers patrolling the area intercepted a vehicle travelling along Norreys Street. The intervention was led by PC Maestro, PC Bertelli, and PCSO Davies.
During the interaction with the driver, officers conducted standard roadside checks which revealed two significant legal breaches: the motorist was operating the vehicle without a valid driver’s license and without the required third-party insurance.
In accordance with road safety enforcement protocols, the officers utilised powers under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act to officially seize the vehicle. This legislation allows police to remove vehicles from the road if they have reasonable grounds to believe the driver is uninsured or does not hold a valid license.
It is to be understood that the vehicle was towed from the scene. The driver, whose identity has not been released, was issued a summons to appear in court at a later date to answer for the motoring offenses.
The incident serves as a fresh reminder of the ongoing efforts by Rochdale police to improve road safety and ensure that all motorists are compliant with the law.
