Dangerous Driver Apprehended After High-Speed Pursuit, Class A Drugs Seized
Rochdale, UK – A dangerous driver was brought to a halt on Saturday evening after a high-speed pursuit through the Kirkholt area of Rochdale, which concluded with a collision and the seizure of a significant quantity of suspected Class A drugs.
Officers on patrol, on 11th October, spotted a Volkswagen Transporter exhibiting erratic driving behaviour. Upon being signalled to stop by law enforcement, the driver failed to comply and instead initiated a pursuit, reaching speeds exceeding 60 mph on narrow residential streets. This dangerous manoeuvre placed members of the public at serious risk.
The pursuit ultimately ended when the driver attempted an off-road manoeuvre in a vehicle ill-suited for such terrain. The Transporter narrowly avoided a collision with a tractor before crashing into a tree, bringing the chase to an abrupt end.
Following the incident, the vehicle was seized and referred to Operation Wolverine. A substantial quantity of suspected Class A drugs, with an estimated street value of £4,000, was recovered from the vehicle and subsequently removed from Rochdale's streets.
Police Constable Dan Richards, who provided details of the incident, emphasised the importance of community vigilance. "Help us keep your community safe", PC Richards stated. "If you notice suspicious vehicles or activity in your area, please report it via Bee in the Loop—your information makes a difference".
The investigation into the seized narcotics and the driver's actions is ongoing.
