Plans Unveiled for New Retirement Village in Rochdale’s Bamford Area
Rochdale, Greater Manchester – A new retirement village featuring dozens of apartments and a number of bungalows could soon be built in the Bamford area of the borough, following the submission of a planning application.
The proposed development, spearheaded by leading retirement accommodation provider McCarthy Stone, is set to be located off Norden Road, directly behind the existing residential estate known as Bamford Mews.
According to the developers, the scheme is designed to meet a significant local demand for high-quality retirement living accommodation, offering a mix of housing options tailored to the needs of older residents.
Community and Comfort
The design for the new complex features an L-shaped apartment block that aims to blend seamlessly with the surrounding environment. Landscaping plans include tree-lined boundaries to mesh the complex into the area's existing greenery.
The apartment block will feature a communal lounge and kitchenette for residents to share, promoting a sense of community. It will also include dedicated gardens and car park for both residents and visitors.
In addition to the apartments, the development includes nearly twenty individual bungalows. These units are designed with privacy and convenience in mind, featuring private gardens and two parking spaces per home.
A Vision for Belonging
McCarthy Stone, which has been in business for over 40 years, is one of Britain’s largest developers of retirement accommodation.
The proposed village is being developed under the Places for Everyone plan, a strategic framework intended to guide development and housing growth in the region.
If approved, the complex will provide a dedicated community for retirees, offering modern amenities while maintaining a connection to the natural surroundings of Bamford. Local planning authorities are expected to have been reviewing the application.
