Police Issue Dispersal Order After Dozens of Youths 'Hurl Fireworks' at Traffic in Middleton Town Centre
Middleton, Greater Manchester — A significant police presence descended on Middleton town centre on the evening of September 29th after a large gathering of youths resulted in chaos, with witnesses reporting fireworks being hurled toward moving traffic.
Dozens of youngsters were seen congregating around Wood Street, near the local Tesco and McDonald's outlets. Multiple frightened motorists and pedestrians reported seeing the group letting off fireworks dangerously close to vehicles in the area.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed they were called to the scene following numerous reports of anti-social behaviour. In response to the escalating situation, officers swiftly implemented a 12-hour dispersal order. The emergency powers granted police the authority to aggressively move individuals out of the town centre and ban them from returning.
According to police statements, officers were dispatched to the heart of Middleton after receiving distress calls about the disruptive crowd. The primary concern was the reckless use of fireworks, which were being directed in a hazardous manner near passing cars.
