Armed Police Respond to Reports of Man with Gun Near Rochdale Bus Station, Two Arrested

Rochdale, UK - Armed police descended on a street near Rochdale bus station on Thursday, June 12th, following reports of a man allegedly carrying a gun. A significant police presence was observed on Water Street, near George Street, with a cordon established around the area shortly after midday.

Responding to the reports of a man with a "suspected firearm" in the area, officers immediately launched an investigation. Two men were subsequently arrested on suspicion of firearms offences.

While the arrests have been made, police have confirmed that no firearm or weapon has yet been recovered in connection with the incident.

"Officers immediately attended and arrested two men on suspicion of firearms offences. No firearm has yet been recovered," a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed. "A cordon is in place around the George Street area as part of their ongoing enquiries."

The police presence and cordon caused disruption in the immediate vicinity, but authorities have assured the public that they are working diligently to conclude their investigation.
