Man Named Locally as Murder Investigation is Launched in Rochdale
The man at the centre of a murder investigation in Rochdale has been named locally as John McGarry.
Mr. McGarry, understood to be 56, a father, and a dedicated Rochdale AFC supporter, was tragically found dead during the week.
Greater Manchester Police officers were called to a report regarding the, "concern for welfare", of a man at a property on Curzon Road, in the Kirkholt area, shortly before 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 7th.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, but despite their best efforts, a man in his 50s was pronounced dead.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that Mr. McGarry’s next of kin have been informed of his passing and are currently being supported by specially trained family liaison officers as the investigation unfolds.
In connection with the incident, a man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody for questioning.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police has since confirmed that the suspect has been released on bail while detectives continue their enquiries.
