Police Launch Arson Investigation After Car Torched on Rochdale Street
Wardle, Rochdale – Emergency services were scrambled to a residential street in the early hours of Wednesday morning after a car was engulfed in flames in a suspected arson attack.
Firefighters and police officers descended on Mill House Close, in the Wardle area of Rochdale, at approximately 12:30 AM on September 3rd following reports of a vehicle on fire.
On arrival, crews were met with a dramatic scene as flames soared from the car, sending thick plumes of smoke billowing into the night air.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) confirmed that one fire engine from Rochdale fire station was dispatched to tackle the blaze. Firefighters wearing specialist breathing apparatus used high-powered hose reels to extinguish the fire and secure the surrounding area, preventing the flames from spreading.
Crews remained at the scene for around an hour to ensure the vehicle was fully extinguished and made safe.
Greater Manchester Police have since confirmed they were called to the incident and are treating the fire as a suspected arson. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack has been underway.
