Woman Rushed to Hospital with Serious Injuries After Being Struck by Lorry

Rochdale – A woman has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a lorry on Wednesday afternoon.

The major incident happened at around 2:30 PM on November 12th on the busy Rochdale Bypass (A664). A large-scale emergency response was immediately activated, with an air ambulance scrambled to the scene alongside paramedics and multiple units from Greater Manchester Police.

On arrival, emergency services found that a female pedestrian had been struck by an HGV and suffered serious injuries. She was treated at the scene before being rushed to hospital for urgent care. Her current condition has not been disclosed.

Following the collision, police cordoned off a large section of the bypass in both directions, from Reservoir Street to Roch Street, to allow for a full investigation. A large HGV was seen parked within the cordon and was undergoing a thorough inspection by specialists from Greater Manchester Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, which is leading the enquiry.

It has not yet been confirmed whether any arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

The extensive road closure remained in place for several hours throughout Wednesday evening, causing significant traffic delays and major disruption. Motorists were advised to seek alternative routes as investigation work continued at the scene.
