Teenagers Arrested After 13-Year-Old Boy Stabbed in Rochdale Town Centre

Rochdale — Tenage boys have been arrested following a stabbing in Rochdale town centre that left a 13-year-old boy in hospital.

The attack took place on Saturday, August 29th. According to Greater Manchester Police, the victim remains hospitalised, receiving treatment for his injuries.

In connection with the incident, four teenage boys have been arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of a bladed article. Two other teenagers, who were arrested earlier in the investigation, have been released on bail as inquiries continue.

Following the violent incident, police implemented enhanced stop-and-search powers in the area. Section 60 restrictions were put in place for Rochdale town centre and were subsequently extended until 3:00 PM on Tuesday, September 1st. These temporary powers allowed officers to stop and search individuals within a designated zone for offensive weapons or bladed articles without needing the usual threshold of reasonable grounds.
