Man Escapes as Fire Breaks Out at Heywood Home
Heywood, Greater Manchester – Emergency services cordoned off a residential street on Monday afternoon after a fire erupted at a property, prompting a major response from fire and paramedic crews.
The incident occurred on Gordon Way in Heywood at approximately 2:45 PM on November 24th. Eyewitnesses reported seeing thick smoke billowing from a window of one of the homes, leading to multiple calls to emergency services.
Crews from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, alongside ambulances and advanced paramedics from North West Ambulance Service, raced to the scene. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus quickly deployed hose reel jets to tackle the blaze inside the property.
Officials confirmed that one man had managed to self-rescue from the building before the arrival of the emergency crews. While he is understood not to have sustained serious injuries, he was assessed and treated by paramedics at the scene as a precaution.
The street remained closed to traffic as teams worked to extinguish the fire and secure the area. Crews remained in attendance after the main fire was put out to ensure the property was safe and to dampen down any remaining hotspots. The cause of the fire has not yet been announced.
