Police Crackdown in Kirkholt and Castleton: High-Value Cars and E-Bikes Seized in Fortnight of Action
Kirkholt & Castleton – Residents in the Kirkholt and Castleton areas may have seen a significant increase in police activity over the past two weeks, as neighbourhood officers ramp up efforts to tackle illegal driving and anti-social behaviour.
In a recent update, the local policing team confirmed a series of successful seizures and recoveries aimed at making the streets safer for the community. The operation, led by Police Constable Mohammed Hussain and the wider Kirkholt and Castleton team, resulted in several high-value and illegal vehicles being taken off the road.
Among the vehicles seized were an Audi A3 and a Renault Clio, both of which were found to be operating without a valid license or insurance. Officers also recovered a stolen Transit van, which has since been seized for further investigation.
High-performance vehicles were also under the spotlight, with a BMW M3 Competition seized during the operation.
The crackdown extended to smaller motorised transport, which has become a growing concern for local residents regarding anti-social behaviour. Police confirmed the seizure of three e-bikes and three e-scooters over the 14-day period. Under current UK law, e-scooters remain illegal to use on public roads and pavements unless part of a government-approved rental trial.
Beyond the seizures, the neighbourhood team has been busy responding to numerous incidents and conducting targeted stop searches. According to PC Hussain, several of these searches resulted in, "positive outcomes", assisting in the disruption of local criminal activity.
"Your local team remains committed to keeping the community safe, tackling anti-social behaviour, and responding to the concerns raised by residents", said PC Mohammed Hussain.
The operation wasn't just about enforcement; it also focused on community building. Officers have been spending time on foot, speaking with residents to gather intelligence and provide reassurance.
“We have also been out speaking with members of the community, providing reassurance, gathering information, and building relationships”, PC Hussain added. “Please feel free to stop and have a chat with us—your information and feedback are always valuable in helping us address local issues”.
The Kirkholt and Castleton policing team is encouraging anyone with concerns about crime or anti-social behaviour in their area to report it via official channels or to speak directly with officers on patrol.
