Ground Broken on Major New Home Development in Castleton

Castleton, Greater Manchester – Construction has officially commenced on, "Loombrook Meadows", a significant new residential expansion in Castleton that promises to bring around three hundred new homes to the area.

The project, led by Barratt Homes, is located on Cowm Top Lane and aims to provide a diverse mix of two, three, and four-bedroom properties. The development is being positioned as a foundation of modern living and accessibility, designed to offer residents proximity to local amenities while maintaining connections to the surrounding countryside and nearby green spaces.

The construction phase of the project is expected to provide a substantial economic boost to the region, expected to be supporting approximately six hundred jobs throughout the building process.

However, the project has attracted attention due to its location; the site is being constructed over existing green space, a decision that highlights the ongoing tension between the demand for new housing and the preservation of natural landscapes.

For future commuters, the development offers strategic transport links. Its location near the Castleton railway station and the M62 motorway is expected to appeal to those who commute to Manchester, Leeds, and other major hubs across the North of the Pennines.

While site preparation and early construction works are now underway, prospective buyers will have to wait a little longer to secure their spot. Barratt Homes has confirmed that properties at the new development are expected to be available for reservation starting in the autumn of 2026.

The launch of the development’s marketing suite is anticipated later this year, when further details on house types and pricing are expected to be revealed.
