Heywood – A 16-year-old boy has tragically died after a major emergency incident in Heywood on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were scrambled to an address on Lewis Drive on the outskirts of the town on October 15th, following reports of a concern for the welfare of a teenager.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed they were called to the scene. A witness reported seeing several vehicles, including police, advanced paramedics, and an ambulance service crew, arrive at the property at around 3:30 PM.

Approximately 15 minutes later, an air ambulance landed on nearby playing fields as the serious nature of the incident became clear.

Paramedics treated the boy at the scene before he was rushed to hospital. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, he sadly lost his life.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "We were called to reports of a concern for welfare on Lewis Drive. A 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital and sadly died".
