Convicted Rochdale Grooming Gang Member, Adil Khan, Has Left the Country, Police Confirm

Rochdale, UK – Adil Khan, a convicted member of a Rochdale grooming gang, has left the United Kingdom, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have confirmed. Khan, who is in his 50s, was one of nine individuals jailed in 2012 for the sexual abuse of children. He had been engaged in a protracted legal battle against deportation.

Khan was sentenced to eight years in prison in 2012 for his crimes. During his sentencing, the judge stated that he would be deported to Pakistan following his release from jail. Khan was released on licence in 2016, four years into his sentence.

His crimes included impregnating one young victim and trafficking another for sexual exploitation, using violence when she resisted.

The deportation order against Khan and fellow groomer Abdul Rauf, also identified by the sentencing judge in 2012, has faced numerous legal challenges and appeals. Both men have argued that deportation would contravene their human rights.

GMP has been conducting compliance checks on Khan since his release from prison. The force confirmed that during a recent visit on October 21st, Khan was not present at his last known address. Following inquiries, GMP has now established that Khan has left the country.

The development follows renewed calls for the deportation of Khan and Rauf earlier this year. Rochdale MP Paul Waugh had expressed, "utter outrage", that the two men remained in the UK, having successfully thwarted repeated attempts to send them back to Pakistan. Mr. Waugh had welcomed the lifting of a five-year ban on flights between Manchester and Islamabad in July, suggesting it could facilitate such deportations.

The Home Office has confirmed that Khan is subject to a deportation order, which means he will be unable to re-enter the UK after his departure.
