The Short Term Assessment and Re-ablement Service (STARS), a vital component of Rochdale Council's adult social care provision, has achieved an official 'Good' rating from the Care Quality Commission following its latest comprehensive evaluation.
This critical initiative annually serves over 1,200 vulnerable individuals across the entire borough. During its recent assessment, the national health and social care regulator observed that the STARS service demonstrated strong leadership, operational effectiveness, a compassionate approach, and responsiveness. The program's activities are carried out throughout the townships of Heywood, Middleton, and Rochdale.
The Care Quality Commission noted the consistent delivery of high-quality care, highlighting the service's success in providing tailored support that precisely matches individual needs. Inspectors commended the dedicated staff for treating residents with profound kindness, empathy, and compassion, while actively guiding them towards healthier lifestyles and upholding their autonomy, personal choice, and control.
The inspection report further emphasized STARS' individual-focused methodology, which distinctly places service users at the heart of all decisions concerning their care. The Care Quality Commission also lauded the service's robust collaborative efforts with partner organizations and its strong lines of communication with families, external agencies, and other care providers.
