Rochdale MP Praises Sea Cadets as "Credit to Our Town"
Rochdale, UK - Paul Waugh, MP for Rochdale, has lauded the Sea Cadets and Royal Marine Cadets based at TS Frobisher II as a shining example of youth in the borough, covering Littleborough, Milnrow, and Whitworth.
During a visit this week alongside Mayor Janet Emsley, Mr. Waugh witnessed the cadets in action, participating in activities ranging from camouflage training and rope skills to drill practice, some sessions held at Hollingworth Lake. He expressed his admiration for the fun and engaging experiences the cadets receive twice weekly.
The MP highlighted the hard work and dedication of the current and former service members, reservists, volunteers, and other individuals who tirelessly support the cadet program.
Adding to their list of achievements, the Rochdale cadets recently secured first place in this year's North West region drill competition, a testament to their dedication and skill.
The TS Frobisher II carries significant historical weight. The original HMS Frobisher was adopted by the people of Rochdale during World War II and played a vital role in the D-Day landings. The ensign of HMS Frobisher is proudly displayed at the cadet headquarters, a constant reminder of this historic link.
As a charity, TS Frobisher II operates on the principle of inclusivity, never turning a youngster away, and their sessions are becoming increasingly popular.
