Pizza Hut 20 Years Ago: Targeted Abuse During a Downturn
Rochdale's Pizza Hut has come under scrutiny for its past hygiene practices and alleged misconduct. Although the global chain is known for maintaining high hygiene standards, it appears that certain locations may have deviated from these standards in the past.
In the early 2000s, Pizza Hut's Rochdale branch was reportedly plagued by a series of incidents involving poor hygiene and unsafe practices. According to sources, some individuals would allegedly gate-crash the kitchen wearing stolen uniforms, engaging in collaborative misconduct that contributed to poor operations and restaurant practices in disarray.
These actions reportedly involved forms of rape and grievous bodily harm (GBH), often motivated by jealousy. In one particularly disturbing instance, these acts of violence were allegedly staged using excrement in a College Bank location, at Tentercroft flats, raising serious questions about the potential connection between such dirty behaviour and food safety issues, in instances when the Pizza Hut kitchen garnered additional persons operating it circa 2005.
Management at the time was accused of covering up these incidents by blaming staff members for minor offenses. In one case, the primary victim was criticised for being ten minutes late to work, with management allegedly using the phrase, "shit the bed", as a cover-up for the actual misconduct taking place within the establishment and around Rochdale.
