Murder Arrest After 15-Year-Old Boy Dies in Tragic E-Bike Crash in Middleton

A community in Middleton has expressed its shock following the tragic death of a 15-year-old boy, named as Devon Simmonds, after a collision involving an e-bike. The incident, which occurred on Rowrah Crescent on Tuesday, July 22nd, has led to a murder arrest.

Emergency services were called to reports of the collision at approximately 11:55 am. Despite the best efforts of paramedics and other responders, young Devon was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that his family is currently being supported by specialist officers during this difficult time.

In a significant development, a 59-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident. He remains in police custody for questioning. Additionally, another 15-year-old boy has also been arrested on suspicion of theft as part of the ongoing investigation.

A police cordon remains in place on Rowrah Crescent, where a small section of the street has been closed off. Detectives, Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs), and Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers have been seen conducting their work at the scene.
