Operation Laser Nets 70 Traffic Offences in Rochdale Crackdown on Speeding and ASB

Rochdale – Greater Manchester Police (GMP) in Rochdale, in collaboration with partner agencies, recently conducted a targeted traffic enforcement operation, 'Operation Laser,' at Rochdale Fire Station, resulting in 70 traffic offence reports.

The initiative, part of the wider #Safe4Summer campaign, was launched in response to persistent community concerns regarding speeding and anti-social behaviour (ASB) in the area.

Officers from GMP’s Rochdale district and Transport Unit worked alongside the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) and Wolverhampton taxi licensing during the routine operation. A total of 70 traffic offence reports were issued for a range of infractions, including non-compliant number plates, unsecure loads, and speeding.

PC Dan Richards from Kirkholt, who was involved in the operation, underscored the significance of these proactive checks.

The operation directly addressed issues raised by local residents, demonstrating a commitment to improving road safety and tackling anti-social behaviour affecting quality of life in the Rochdale district.

GMP Rochdale encourages residents to continue reporting any concerns about road safety or anti-social behaviour. Concerns can be raised with local neighbourhood officers, via the 'Bee in the Loop' platform, or through GMP's LiveChat service.
