Man Found Dead on East Lancashire Street, Two Arrested on Suspicion of Murder
Bacup, Rossendale – November 1st, 2025 – A man in his 30s has died on a street in Bacup, with two people subsequently arrested by Lancashire Police on suspicion of murder.
The tragic discovery was made in the early hours of this morning, November 1st, on Newchurch Road. Officers on patrol in the area observed paramedics attempting to resuscitate the victim at approximately 12:35 AM. Despite their best efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the incident, a 26-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, both reportedly from Bacup, were arrested on suspicion of murder. They are currently in custody and made to answer to the enquiries of detectives.
A police cordon was established on Newchurch Road, stretching between Clough Street and Olive Street, for several hours this morning as investigations commenced. The cordon has since been lifted.
Lancashire Constabulary has stated that their thoughts are with the deceased's loved ones, who are being supported by specially trained officers during this difficult time. A Home Office post-mortem examination will be conducted in due course to formally establish the cause of death.
A dedicated team of detectives is actively pursuing enquiries in the area. While the incident is currently being treated as isolated, there will be an increased visible police presence of uniformed officers and vehicles in Bacup as a precautionary measure.
Detectives are appealing to the public for any information or footage that could assist their investigation. They are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who was in the vicinity of Newchurch Road between midnight and 12:35 AM, or anyone who was at the Rosemount Working Men's Club last night, October 31st. This includes individuals who may have dashcam or doorbell camera footage from the relevant timeframe.
