Family 'in Shock' After Home Ransacked in Brazen Evening Burglary

Passmonds – A local family has been left devastated after their home was broken into and ransacked while they were out for just a few hours on Tuesday evening.

Mohammad Salmaan and his family returned to their house on Phyllis Street at around 9:40 PM to discover that intruders had forced their way in, stealing valuable items. The burglary is believed to have occurred sometime between 6:40 PM and 9:40 PM.

In a public appeal for information, Mr. Salmaan described the profound impact the crime has had on his family.

"It’s a horrible feeling, especially for the kids who are in shock," he said in a message to a concerned neighbour". They’ve taken valuable items... They went through everything and left a mess".

The family is now appealing to the local community for help. Mr. Salmaan is asking residents on Phyllis Street and the surrounding area to check any security cameras, such as CCTV or doorbell footage, from the time of the incident.

He noted a specific vehicle that had aroused his suspicion just before the family left their home. "I did notice a suspicious looking small white transit van parked outside just before we left the house", he stated in his appeal.

Local police have been informed and have opened an investigation into the break-in. The family are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the white van or any unusual activity on Phyllis Street on Tuesday evening to come forward.

The incident has sent a wave of concern through the neighbourhood, with many residents expressing their support for the Salmaan family and vowing to check their own security footage.

Anyone with information that could assist the police investigation is urged to contact the non-emergency police line at 101 or report it anonymously through Crimestoppers.
